Hi,
I went to Las Vegas in October of 2006 for a convention.
I was there for about 4 days and 3 nights and I stayed at Treasure Island.
The advice given to me prior to my trip was that Vegas was hot and everyone who has been there has had only great things to say. When I arrived it was cold, raining and damp the entire time.
I am not a smoker and I live in New York where smoking in public places are banned.
In Las vegas there is no escaping it. It's as if everyone was a smoker except for me and unfortunately the smell is in everything around you.
Now for the good things.
Depending where you live dress extremely comfortably for the flight.
Definetly no jeans! I live in New York and my flight was like 6 hours.
Depending on which airline you travel with, bring snacks or small meals.
I traveled on Jet Blue and they only serve drinks and snacks.
You can only eat so many chips and cookies.
I loved the flight going to Las Vegas.
Upon nearing Las Vegas you get an excellent view of the grand Canyon.
There are so many places to shop including upscale shops like Dior and Gucci.
The food and entertainment is excellent.
You have endless choices! Plan your trip ahead of time and schedule your days.
You can go horseback riding, kayaking and there are guidfed trips through the grand canyon.
Make sure if you go to Las Vegas you go with people you get along with and enjoy spending time with.
I was with my co-workers.
If you are economical like I am, there are shuttle buses at the airport that make drop offs to all the hotels.
You can also take a cab. The shuttle buses allow you to get a look at the hotels and the surrounding area.
You can go from hotel to hotel to gamble, dine, shop or for entertainment.
Last but not least, I can't forget about the gambling.
I tried my luck and just played for fun. I do plan on going back in the future with friends or family.
I plan on staying at one of the newer hotels.
